As part of the special inspection, special access means were used, including a basic diving team consisting of 5 divers and a vessel. Additionally, a thickness measurement team was used to determine the thickness of the metallic elements of the piers.
The structure consists of two berths in the form of dolphin platforms, arranged in parallel. They are located at the San Diego Oil Pier and were built in 1972, although some elements have been replaced more recently.
They are composed of reinforced concrete platforms and support groups in the initial sections, followed by metallic walkways and free-standing metallic piers.
The pier is formed by a total of 7 reinforced concrete platforms, each approximately 2 meters thick. The piles supporting the platforms are metallic. The total length is 670 meters.
